M+M Personalized Wedding Cake designWe got Top Cakes initially as part of the package offered to us by our caterer, Juan Carlo. It's either the a basic 3-tiered fondant cake or basic light and sounds. Knowing that getting L&S supplier separately would cost more, we decided to spend for the cake. Besides, Mike really wanted a unique wedding cake when he saw those game console-inspired cakes at the bridal fairs. We planned to splurge on this one.

We scheduled meetings with Ms. Mary Anne to give our down payment and discuss the design for the cake. She has regular bible study schedule during Thursdays in Makati so I was convenient meeting for us to meet her after office hours. What we appreciated best about Ms. Me-Ann is her experience with her craft. She's definitely a pro. When we showed her Mike's design sketches, she knew exactly what needs to be done. She sent us a sketch after our meeting, and then another one with with our color motif.

Our last meeting was scheduled for the cake tasting. She prepared 4 mini-cakes with different flavors - butter pound, mocha, red velvet and chocolate! I liked mocha but Mike thought it tasted so common and so we decided to have a red velvet cake.



The best way to communicate with Ms. Mary Anne is not through text messages (SMS). I've always called her to set appointments. But it seemed like I never learned this lesson. While we're expecting our not-so-common red velvet cake, voila a different one peeked as we sliced through the cake during our cake-cutting ceremony. It was butter pound not red velvet. Point against them for not following the customer's choice! But perhaps also against myself for not double checking. Anyway, the cake was so heavy and it tasted good.

Okay so we didn't get the flavor we wanted, but here's what I think decided my happiness.

My sister, who's also my maid-of-honor immediately noticed our cake being setup at the reception venue. Seeing it from afar (our suite near the lake), I was so surprised at how huge it was! The cake toppers were lovely too. We had 3 sets of characters, one each layer, representing the different chapters in our lives.

No wonder, Ms. Mary Anne did not allow us to have it delivered via Juan Carlo when we talked about the design. She charged us for delivery though but it was I think worth it. :-)


Verdict: Top Cakes definitely exceeded our expectations!

M's LASIK Experience

August 24, 2016 Went to shinagawa at enterprise with Mommy Elsa. My sneezing was bad and I thought my lasik appointment will be postponed. Good thing the doc approved as long as I can control the sneezing for 5min. There were 5 of us to have similar procedure that Wednesday afternoon. It eased my nerves to talk to them but still quite nervous that I was no longer sneezing. I was third to be called. Aljoe Mix Lights and Sounds

Aljoe Mix is Juan Carlo's partner in providing basic light and sounds system. We did not transact with them personally. It was Al from JC who did all the coordination with Aljoe Mix. We had our ceremony outdoor so I was worried that the basic sound system may not be enough to cover our venue. Al assured me that Aljoe Mix is a frequent supplier in Club Balai Isabel and so that shouldn't be a concern. Our reception venue at Club Balai Isabel (Pantalan) Photo by R.A.W. The amplification the sound system did to our hired musicians (Muzzique Vox) was excellent. During the ceremony proper, however, there were glitches in the sound coming from the microphone.
